As front-line emergency service workers we all have moments that haunt us for a lifetime. Those unforgettable cases, the times when things just went wrong, when we were too late, or made a mistake, or arrived at a scene that was just too much for the human mind to process and comprehend at the time. Then, a quick debrief (if we are lucky) and on to the next situation. Relying on dark humour, caffeine and a collection of other (often unhealthy) coping strategies to get through.
Then as the cracks are felt, long before they begin to show, an underlying feeling of not wanting to show perceived weakness or let the side down can creep in. No need to go into further details, if you know, you know… and trust me after 20 years as a front-line medical care provider, I know.
Whether it is a build up of chronic stress over time, lots of events leading to the “straw that broke the camel’s back,” one single major traumatic event that you just can’t shake, or feeling disillusioned and unsupported by management who seem to be concerned with bureaucracy and targets rather than the job that matters, or a combination of all of the above, the symptoms can be very real and truly devastating to your overall health and wellbeing.

This is the therapy, where we do the real inner “dirty” work and delve into the emotional core of the problem at a subconscious level to deal with the root cause of the trauma directly. This is where the true healing takes place with the aim to relieve you of any symptoms such as flashbacks, anxiety, guilt, shame, irritability, anger or other unwanted emotions and feelings. This will generally involve using NLP, Hypnoanalysis and other advanced therapeutic techniques to bring about the true, lasting change that enables you to move confidently into the future.
